In this brief poem, I look at the bounty of goodness that God has given us. The earth was created for human enjoyment. And The Blessing was given to all Believers to experience as much “Heaven on Earth” as possible in a fallen world.

God gave His Word and the Holy Spirit to equip us to live by faith. He gave his very own son, Jesus, to allow His full Blessing, and redemption from the curse, to be available to all Believers, Abraham’s spiritual descendants by faith. (Deuteronomy 28, Galatians 3 & 4)

There were many verses that inspired this poem, but here are two that had the most impact:

The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. — Psalm 23 NIV

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. — 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 NIV

God Gives

By Harrison Woodard

God gives us abundance, to share.

God gives us love, to care.

God gives us peace, not despair.

God gives us hope, in prayer.

God gives us faith, to dare.

God gives us His Spirit. He’s always there!
