An Animal Parable Bible Lesson – Easter

Ask the animals and they will teach you — Job 12:7 NLT

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. — Psalm 150:6 NIV

Introduction

This Bible devotion is intended to be used with the children’s story, Roxie’s Big News. Jesus often taught people using parables. In the same way, these stories and devotions are written to teach Bible truths to kids, teens, and people of all ages.

Read the concepts below and look up the Bible verses associated with each one. Use the faith building exercise to build your faith. Based on the Easter story, this parable is about how a dove named Roxie announced the Good News to the world. You can read the real story in your Bible at Matthew 26-28, Mark 14-16, Luke 19:45-46 & 22-24 and John 2:16 & 18-20.

Roxie’s Big News – Key Concepts
A Parable About Spreading The Good News

1. When Collin, Roxie and Timo were thrown into the cage, they could have given up. But instead, they knew that God would protect them and rescue them. They thanked God for His protection and believed that He was willing and able to set them free. When you trust in Jesus, you can know that whatever traps the Devil sets for you; God will rescue you. Start building your life on the Word of God, on that solid rock, and you will be confident and overcome any storm that attacks you.

Psalm 91  – Matthew 7:24-25  – Ephesians 6:13-16  – James 4:7

2. When Jesus saw the merchants and moneychangers in the temple cheating people and preventing them from worshipping God, he was very upset. People were traveling great distances to worship God, and these merchants made it impossible for them to experience the full blessing of worshipping God. You need to always make sure that your worship services and church activities put God first. People who want to worship God should never be hindered.

Exodus 20:2-3  – Matthew 21:12-13  – Mark 12:30  – John 4:23-24  – Romans 14:11-13

3. After the cage broke Roxie’s wing, she prayed a short prayer. But what a powerful prayer it was. She knew God was her source and He was fully capable of taking care of her problem. When you are faced with an emergency, you don’t need to make long prayers. Simply ask for help and believe that God has heard and answered the prayer. God knows what you need even before you ask.

Psalm 91:15  – Isaiah 65:24  – Matthew 7:7-8  – Mark 11:22-24

4. Even before Roxie met Jesus, God was at work to bring them together. He was preparing Roxie for a very special task. Are you getting to know Jesus? Have you made your relationship with Jesus the number one purpose in life? Start working today so you will be prepared to serve God when He calls. God has a plan for your life. Will you be ready?

Psalm 23  – Proverbs 3:5-6  – 1 Corinthians 2:9

5. After Roxie was healed she spread the news to all her friends. When God is at work in your life, you can’t help but spread the news about all the wonderful things He has done for you. Get to know God and start spreading the good news!

Psalm 9:11  – Mark 5:19  – Luke 2:20

6. As the doves watched Jesus’ trial and crucifixion, they couldn’t understand all that was happening. Often things happen in life that you can’t completely understand. But you can be certain that all good things are from God. He is at work during the good times and the bad on your behalf. Remember, He can take any bad situation the devil throws at you and use it for your benefit.

John 16:33  – Romans 8:28  – 2 Corinthians 12:9  – 1 John 4:4

7. Jesus told Roxie to wait for his return. These are comforting words. Jesus did come back and you can be certain that he will come again. What a wonderful day it will be for those that are prepared and waiting for his return!

Matthew 24:27  – Luke 21:27  – Acts 1:11  – Colossians 3:4

8. After only one day, Roxie’s friends were telling Roxie to give up and come back to the garden with them. You can’t let your friends talk you out of what you believe. Trust the Word of God and believe in Jesus. Remember, God cannot lie!

Numbers 23:19  – Joshua 21:45  – Isaiah 40:8  – Matthew 24:35  – John 6:63

9. Roxie was so happy that Jesus was alive! She immediately shared the good news with all the birds in Israel. You should do the very same thing. Jesus is alive today. Are you telling the world the good news?

Psalm 117  – Hebrews 13:15  – 1 Peter 3:15
